You can enjoy naturist accommodations near London, as well as other locations in the UK. Nude beaches, clothes-free vacationing, and a warm "fish n' chips" welcome!
There's something for all the family in this peaceful woodland paradise, from sun-drenched lawns to cool shady corners. With a heated swimming pool, sport and recreational facilities, restaurant and licensed bar, Spielplatz combines the best of nature with modern facilities.
The Club owns some 6.5 hectares of semi-ancient woodland, which has been designated by the local authority as a County Wildlife Site. As this implies, the woodland is a haven for wildlife including deer, but it now also accommodates an ever growing range of facilities for naturist recreation.
Principally, of course, Blackthorns offers the opportunity to strip off and enjoy rest and recreation without the encumbrance of clothes. You may even get an all-over tan!
Total relaxation is the aim, and as you step through the gate you leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life as the calm of the woods wraps around you.
Several lawns, and woodland clearings, allow the Members to meet and laze away the hours. Around the main lawn are the pavilion, children’s pavilion, the large swimming pool, shower and toilet block, and the communal bar-b-q. The pavilion is the social heart of Blackthorns, and light refreshments are usually available during the day. In other clearings there are courts for miniten, badminton, volleyball and petanque, a 9-hole crazy golf course, and a kiddies’ playground. Naturally, the woods provide unlimited scope for the children to play. Blackthorns has a static caravan for hire and electric hook-ups for touring caravans.
A varied programme of sports and social events runs right through the year. Sports events combine the serious and the fun variety, and Blackthorns participates in, and hosts, national and regional competitions. Social events range from the Saturday evening “communal” bar-b-q to more formal dinners, but also encompass discos – many with fancy dress themes, birthday parties, quizzes and more challenging events! At evening events clothes are usually worn.
Membership Required and charged by group (family, couple, etc.)
You enter the grounds by a long drive way through trees and bushes, carefully avoiding any wild life that may be running around. The first camping site, with it's electrical power points, and grassed area is on your left, next to the car park. Just around the bend is the resident Wardens home. As you get further into the Site you will see the Cedar Wood Clubhouse with it's Large Hall, TV lounge and "Broadlands Bistro" where you can order your cooked meals, all of which are opposite the enclosed heated swimming pool and next to one of three hard courts for Badminton and Miniten.
Membership Required
The emphasis is on fun and relaxation. In addition to a planned social event every month, Saturday evenings feature live entertainment courtesy of the "Coco Pops Road Show". If you're feeling energetic, our sports calendar (yellow rows on the Planned Events page) will provide plenty of organised activities to keep you on the move.
The club is owned by a trust in the name of the Carter family. Kath and Walter, who founded the club, have now retired from direct involvement in the organisation and management of the club; but their daughter, Jane, and son, Steve, continue to provide members and visitors with beautiful grounds and excellent, well-maintained facilities in which to relax and play among like-minded friends.
Facilities include a large clubhouse, swimming pool and sauna suite, luxurious hydrotherapy spa pool suite, 18 hole putting green, miniten court, 2 lane pétanque terrain, shuffleboard court and volleyball court; also clay pigeon shooting on Sunday mornings.
Bring your own tent or caravan, or hire a fully equipped holiday caravan or a luxurious log cabin.
Day visitors are also welcome.
The club is well placed for touring Sandringham, Cambridge, Ely, Kings Lynn and the North Norfolk coast (including Holkham naturist beach).
For visitors from Europe, we are only 128Km from Felixstowe, 144Km from Harwich and 254Km from Dover.
The club, set in secluded old meadow surrounded by traditional Norfolk banked hedges, tall conifers and alder, is open from the beginning of April until the end of September.
